Sakhalin II Onshore Processing Facility Project is located off the northeastern shore of Sakhalin Island, 7 km inland from the landfall of the gas pipelines from the Lunskoye Platform. A joint venture company BETS, formed by ENKA, Bechtel and their Russian partner, was awarded the contract for the construction of the OPF in May 2003.

OPF includes two trains for the treatment of gas and condensate as well as gas booster compressors and crude oil booster pumps. The combined condensate and oil will be pumped through the booster pumps at the OPF having a capacity of up to 195,000 bbl/d.

OPF also includes a 100 MW capacity power plant to generate the required power for itself and an additional 19 MW for the Lunskoye platform, as well as several other utilities required for the operation and maintenance of the facility.

At full capacity, the plant will be capable of processing 51 million cubic meters of gas and about 9,500 cubic meters of condensate/oil per day.

In October 2006, BETS was awarded the contract for the extension and modification of the facility, the extension and the modification of the OPF is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2008.

In May, 2007, the project hit a total of 9.5 million man-hours without any LTI. The modification works are ongoing with a work force of 1,700 laborers and 300 staff as of December, 2007.

Under the scope of works of the Project, BETS has also undertaken the transportation and the logistics activities for both the contractor provided material and equipment and the free issue material and equipment provided by the client. Transportation of 4,600 tonnes of heavy lift and oversized cargo, the heaviest piece weighing 325 tonnes, has been performed via beach landings at Lunkskoye Bay, while contending with extreme climatic and environmental difficulties.
